Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here are the most frequently asked questions regarding our online Python coding course, along with their answers:

Python is an in-demand skill on its own and as part of a larger portfolio. Many companies use Python in their daily operations. Additionally, learning Python means your child has options even if they do not enter the tech sector.

Within the technology sector, Python knowledge can be applied to Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, various types of development, and more. Python can be used for data analysis, scientific computing, task automation, and more outside the technology sector.

Python is an in-demand skill for data science, web development, machine learning, game development, artificial intelligence, and numerous other fields. Additionally, more fields will require coding knowledge to advance as technology becomes more integrated with the workplace.

Python is one of the most in-demand coding languages and serves as a gateway to the world of coding. With Python knowledge, kids are equipped to study machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, web development, game development, and more.

Compared to other languages, Python is more user-friendly, intuitive, and easy to learn than some of the other languages. Learning Python opens numerous pathways for students, including more advanced courses and different languages.

No, your child does not need any previous coding experience. We built our curriculum to teach both foundations and advanced coding concepts in a way that engages students. All your child needs is a commitment to learning throughout the course.

We believe that early exposure to coding provides lasting benefits for students, so we designed our courses for ages 11 to 18. We specifically focus on coding for middle and high school students.

mindLab Excel runs courses throughout the year, so you can enroll your child whenever you’re ready. This choice helps us keep classes small for your child and offers flexibility to work with your child around other commitments.

Students need to attend classes every week to achieve the best learning outcomes. Additionally, students need an internet-capable device (ideally a laptop) and a stable internet connection to attend classes. Our program works on both Mac and Windows devices.

Yes, you can. Our course is designed to provide in-depth and interactive coding instruction. It is a great complement to school-based coding electives and will help your child succeed in class.

mindLab Excel aims to keep our courses affordable, and we price significantly less than other online courses. Please get in touch with us regarding your student to receive an exact price.

Each course is six months long. During this time, students will learn the foundations of coding and then move into more advanced concepts. All classes include hands-on, interactive, and engaging instruction.

mindLab Excel teaches on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to maximize the number of students who can attend. Students will have a consistent class time for their course, and each class is 75 to 90 minutes, depending on student needs.

Yes, we offer a completion certification for every student after the capstone project. This certificate is ideal for resumes and college applications.

We offer flexibility throughout our courses since no two students learn at the same rate. In addition to our courses, which we recommend students commit to attending every week, we also offer unbound support outside of class hours and email contacts should the need arise.

A typical class is five to six students, and the class stays the same throughout the course. We find that this class size enables interaction with the instructor, offers individual attention to each student, and supports students in asking questions.

We understand your desire to track your child’s progress. We provide regular updates on your child’s coding journey and welcome collaboration that supports their learning. We are also open to feedback.

All classes are taught 100% live online so that we can interact with each student. We find that this real-time approach enhances learning outcomes and allows instructors to provide beneficial feedback to help students.

All classes include a note, which is similar to a chapter in a traditional textbook. Your student will still receive their note for the missed class, and we can offer out-of-class support to ensure your student is ready for the next class.

When possible, advanced notice a student will miss class is helpful so that additional support can be arranged.

mindLab Excel focuses on providing students with a broad, solid foundation in Python that they understand how to apply to real-world problems. Our course builds strong conceptual knowledge combined with lots of hands-on practice during every class.

Our goal is fluency, not memorization, so students can continue to expand their knowledge later. Students practice both concepts and practical skills like debugging to form a working knowledge of Python. This combination provides a strong base for advanced courses or coding projects.

Early exposure to coding helps kids build confidence and problem-solving skills. Generally, children who use coding language improve their overall academic performance, including math.
